JHMHSC Pharmacy Wing Renovations

This project provided for a complete renovation of this 72,000 square foot, seven story research laboratory. The laboratory is operated by the J. Hillis Miller Health Center (JHMHC) for the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. The building was completely gutted in phases by floor in order to create flexible lab space and to upgrade obsolete systems. Each floor was fitted with all new interior partitions, finishes and all new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. A new EMCS/DDC control system was designed to setback lab supply and exhaust during unoccupied times for energy conservation.

The building was renovated in phases, by floor, from the top down. The first phase renovated Floors 5 and 6, the second phase Floor 4, the third phase Floor 3, the fourth phase Floors 1 and 2, and the last phase was the Ground Floor. All floors, except the floors under construction, were in full operation during this phased renovation.

Moses Engineering was a consultant to Ponikvar & Associates, Architects and was responsible for the design, construction administration and HVAC commissioning for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection work. Planning included providing for future phases initially in the design of fume exhaust systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems.
