UF Housing & Residence Education Center

The University of Florida Department of Housing and Resident Education (DHRE) serves as the main office for all housing support services and includes the main server room for Housing.

Moses Engineering performed an analysis of the server room to determine the most cost effective way to improve redundancy within the cooling system. It was determined that the best approach was to utilize the existing chilled water system as the primary source of cooling and add an additional DX cooling capability to the system. A new rooftop unit was added to the existing facility.

Moses Engineering assessed the existing generator size to verify sufficient capacity existed to support the current and future electrical demands of the server room and facility.

Moses Engineering also provided mechanical and electrical design to support an extensive interior upgrade. Mechanical upgrades included VAV box replacement, ductwork modifications, and connection to DHRE Building Automation System. The electrical upgrades included power, data, fire alarm upgrades, and new lighting fixtures.
