UF Broward Hall Renovations

This 165,000 sq. ft. facility includes dormitory, common areas and offices, staff apartments and teaching centers. Originally constructed in 1954 this facility has a total occupancy limit of 690. Facility amenities include high-speed computer access, laundry facilities, floor lounges with kitchens, recreation rooms, large gathering/assembly spaces and fully furnished bedrooms.

Moses Engineering provided all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, voice, data and A/V design services. Renovations have included, HVAC upgrades, Electrical upgrades, Fire code upgrades, and the addition of two passenger elevators.

The scope of work included a new DOAS Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system and master planning for a complete VRF cooling/heating system. Due to the lack of above ceiling space and superior energy efficiency, the VRF system was selected as the ideal system for this facility and will replace the window A/C units.

Additional work included fire code corrections including a new complete fire sprinkler system, lighting upgrades, emergency power upgrades, general electrical upgrades, fire alarm system upgrades and complete plumbing and sanitary replacement.
